The MFA Program

A wise teacher once told me that the MFA Program is meant to make you question:

What you do.

How you do it.

Why you do it.

Like I said, he is a wise teacher!

Soon,
I began to ask myself:

What is painting?

How do I make a painting?

Am I a painter?

Thinking in these abstract ways has made me wonder and struggle. What is an MFA?

To wonder is to have a curiosity and willingness to be delighted.

To struggle is to use forceful or violent efforts to advance.

That about sums up my idea of an MFA for tonight. I will change. My idea of what an MFA is will change. My painting will change.
